Punk Rock Singles #1 - The Adverts

I've decided to start a segment here highlighting some of Punk's famed and not-so famed 7-inchers. Each post will include some (often misguided) insights and both sides of the record, as well as suggestions for further listening and reading if available. I've got a short list of singles I'm planning on posting about so if you have any suggestions send them my way via the comments button.

Punk Rock Singles #1 - "One Chord Wonders" B/W "Quickstep" by The Adverts (Stiff 1977)

Form it's feedback drenched opening to its sustained power-chord close "One Chord Wonders” is a classic, highlighted by its snotty self-aware lyrics and “fuck you” attitude. It's flip "Quickstep" ain't too shabby either; despite being omitted on the Adverts' 1978 full-length debut. Three minutes and eighteen seconds of immature electricity. Both songs come complete with energy driven How-Tos for Bored Teenagers.

“Come back when you’ve learned to play!” Why wait?
